Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operation Teams, Development Engineers or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, and cost, while meeting customer requirements and may support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer requirements. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.

Responsiblites

  • Utilize best practices and business knowledge to support multiple products, services, or processes within the transportation solutions segment.
  • Offer technical expertise on current production systems and devise advanced solutions for continuous performance improvement.
  • Collaborate with designers to optimize manufacturing processes while maintaining product design functionality.
  • Identify and eliminate inefficiencies, incorporating best practices to enhance overall product performance.
  • Evaluate the quality of manufactured products through First Article Inspection reports.
  • Execute design change requests and manage engineering change processes.
  • Coordinate and resolve technical issues, conducting Root Cause Analyses as necessary.
  • Undertake Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) and cost reduction assignments.

What your background should look like:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (B.E/B.Tech/ME/MTech) with a focus on supporting development or product engineering activities.
  • Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree holders generally require 4+ years of relevant experience.
    • Master's degree holders generally require 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Functional Competencies:
    • Proficiency in CAD systems, particularly CREO Part modeling & Sheet Metal.
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and product prints.
    • Familiarity with simulation results interpretation and its translation into product design.
    • Knowledge in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and DFMEA.
    • Experience in tolerance stack-up and GD&T.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Understanding of product design, validation, and prototyping methods.
    • Knowledge of quality tools like 8D, Why Why analysis, Fishbone diagram, etc.
    • Experience in designing with plastics and sheet metal components.
    • Proficiency in conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and process improvement.
  • Preferred Competencies:
    • Ability to train others on product design/engineering tools.
    • In-depth knowledge of plastics and sheet metal components.
    • Familiarity with validation specifications such as US CAR/LV 214.
    • Understanding of crimping technologies.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Basic knowledge of GPS and Model-Based Definition (MBD).
    • Experience in Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) projects.
    • Familiarity with measurement instruments/methods/validation.
